Ugadi is the New Year festival which is celebrated primarily in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telegana. The word "Ugadi" comes from"Yuga"(age) and "Adi" (beginning) meaning the beginning of a new era. It marks the first day of Chaitra month in the Hindu lunisolar calendar and usually falls in March or April. It is a time for famalies to come together, perform traditional poojas, and prepare special dishes like Ugadi Pachadi, which represents the different flavors of life.
